1920s: The Times of Crystal Sets and… Integrated Circuits

  • Left near the rear wall, a very rare Russian plug-in detector unit is displayed. Made in 1914, it was so-called Perikon Detector developed by G. W. Pickard. This type of detector consists of two different crystals, copper pyrites and zincite, held in firm contact against each other to produce rectifying effect. 

    The rest of display contains foreign crystal sets and accessories of 1924-1936. Detailed pictures of the items displayed may be found in "Crystal Sets and Accessories" section of our Broadcast Receiver Collections.
